Hi...fellow reefers. I inherited a 30g tank from my son when he went to college 5 years ago . 3 years ago I installed a 90g with a 30g sump. Had some success with LPS, but tank did not POP. In March I decided to finish my basement and made a 300g tank a center piece, with a 75G sump and 30G refugium . After taking my time getting all the hardware & plumbing set up , I put in 150lb live sand , 50lb live Fuji rock and 200lb Pukani dry rock and cycled the tank for 8 weeks. I had a lot of algae growth during the cycle , but that was expected. Water parameters moved as expected too. After 8 week I shut down the 90g and moved the Fish and Corals to the 300g. Everything is settling down well , except I cannot get rid if what looks like thick brown and bubble algae. I think it may be a circulation problem . the main pump is moving +/- 2500g/hr though 4 return bulkheads , and I have a Korila Wave make (4 pumps) @ about 750G/hr each. I've taken the bold step and purchased 2 Ecotech MP60 pumps ,which will arrive next week that should help..a lot. Just interested if anyone can advise how I should position these in the tank. It rectangular 78"' x 36" 26".
