Hey all, i currently have a 50 gal tank that i got from a friend getting out of the hobby which means i have two tanks now! My first tank is an AIO so i didnt do all the sump research with that one. This new tank does not have anything except a cannister filter that sits in the cabinet underneath the tank. That being said, i want to get a sump to replace this and i was looking at the triton26 v2 sump. For some reason i cannot wrap my head around how this thing is setup. Please let me know if my thinking is correct. The two filter socks will require me to have two lines ran from inside my tank into the sump, in the same chamber i can add a protein skimmer, the next chamber is the refugium and then the last is where id add a return pump back to my tank, correct? The last chamber also has a filter sponge, but is that enough with the sock for proper filtration or do i need to add more? Sorry if this seems jumbled i just am having a brain fart on thinking during this quarantine time haha
Any other sumps with a refugium/skimmer section that you guys suggest can also be added into comments please! im not set-in-stone on this one

Yes 2 Lines in but I'm not sure you want to put a skimmer in the same section where the socks are, not enough room to change out the socks. The other issue is you might get a good bit of water noise if the inlets to the socks don't go below the water level in that section. When I had a Trigger 24 I added a piece of PVC pipe to mine to alleviate this issue. From what I can make out it looks like the socks slide in so you could make it work by bringing the sock up over the extended pipe & tilt the top to get it over the slide. I really think the middle section is for a skimmer or refugium.
