I am a wantabe reefer. My wife and I are downsizing in 2 years and I finally can get my reef tank. Live in central Mass and will be working with Imagine an Ocean to design, install my DT though I want to do as much myself as possible. I have always had freshwater fish and use to breed fancy tail guppies many years ago. I currently have a fully planted 36 G Red Sea discus tank where I do weekly RO/DI water changes, which I will plan on using in the future as a QT in the future. Have been reading for the last year and accumulating articles/reviews/info etc. I have plenty of time to plan and finally joined some blogs to learn more. I love the Builds and have been enjoying reading the threads. Just wanted to introduce myself.

What would be your best recommendation as I prepare towards creating my own reef tank. Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

WELCOME ..:)
Even though I am very very new.. I have one recommendation ... Nothing happens fast with SW...so have patients and read read read... then while you are waiting some more.. read read read..lol.. I also have been doing freshwater for years.. pretty much figured out.. 90% of FW knowledge is worthless.. lol

Thanks badd. That seems to be the theme-READ. Any books you recommend. Have read the three by Sprung and Delbeek (?sp) and lots of stuff online. Not good to hear that my freshwater knowledge is useless but hopefully my detail to avid husbandry will help.
Thanks

I have just read everything I can find...

Read everything on this site and go to bulkreefsupply.com and watch the whole series they are doing on YouTube. They are going step by step in setting up a reef tank and each episode takes a deep dive into a different subject on reefing. Gives you the basics on each topic and also explains the more difficult water chemistry, technology subjects in layman's terms.
