I like hermits but they will kill snails and eat anything they can. I have a mix of both just wanting something to keep sand cleaner and eat leftover food. Although my fish eat everything I fed within seconds. When I feed the reef frenzy food their is some stuff floating around for coral and shrimp etc

The algae was out of control at one point but I had been manual removing so it looked better, just couldn't get it gone. I think the sand bed was wasted it was 10 years old and I had the 90 running so I just moved everything over. Less work with 1 tank too

I had blue legs they ate all the smaller snails so now they live in my fuge. I got some red leg or cortez crabs and they are much better tank mates. One large conch snail and a bunch of other snail types that can right themselves. My turbos all died falling off of the glass.

Well most of the plants are surviving, had so throw some gracalaria out as it turned white. I had a small phosphate spike up to .08 so replaced the gfo I will know more Tuesday when test again if it is helping any. The sexy shrimp are loving the plants pods too

I have lost a few more macro but most are still holding on. They say it takes a month or 2 for the plants to stabilize so hope they make it. If mot may have to go to a 6500k light although im hoping not to so I can have coral in the fuge as well. The mangroves are really growing roots so hoping to get some leaves soon. The sand in the dt looks so much better after adding the conch and brittle. Plan to add another brittle soon or serpent .

I suppose I could do that, maybe I will look Into that. They make the kessil In 6500 and I already have the mount.lol

I use 2 test for phosphate a salifert and a hanna. The salifert shows 0, and the hanna shows .03 today. I just don't know which to trust. I have been doing some cleaning and about have all the hair algae gone from dt but still have some in the df. Also have bubble algae, time for some emeralds I guess. Will be doing water change in next day or so and plan to blow rocks off good. Planning to start the reactor with gfo and carbon this week if numbers aren't better. My nitrates are around 10 so im kinda to the limit for me. Thinking of maybe vodka dosing but on the fence. Skimmer is really pulling some gunk lately so I may almost be there. I would so love to get the tank on cruise control and It take care of itself besides the water changes.lol.

.03 isn't that bad. Either test is misleading in the sense that what algae u have is pulling down those numbers. Just remember that the macros need some phosphate and nitrates to grow.

That's why im waiting to add the reactor. If my numbers don't go up im going o keep doing what im doing. I just have gfo floating in sump now and it is working. I definitely do not want to go to 0. My experience with biopellets took my nitrate to 0 and phosphate to .2 in no time.

Yes I am planning to work on that, but I like It around 5. I just need to do some water changes and that should come down. Maybe the macro will kick In and take care of that In the future. I will be ordering more soon and It will not sit In the heat for 2 days.smh.
