Wanting to buy gyre

I’m wanting get get a gyre for my new 90 gallon tank and was looking at the jump 2K gyre was wondering if it’s any good and if I should go bigger ? My tank will be 90% sps when the time comes . I just got it running a few days ago

A 2K would work in a 90g. Though I am also setting a 90G and I plan to run 2 X 2K's on opposite ends of the tank.

4K would be too much I think. I have one 2K in my 125g now and even with just one running I can see flow everywhere.

That’s what I was thinking I just wanted to make sure befor I order somthing and be over kill . Is the jump line any good or should I get the higher end one ? Just thought for the money it would be pretty good

I love my 2K though I'm not a big fan of the controller software. It works well enough once you have it setup but getting there might be a challenge. Make sure your WIFI network has a password or it will not connect through WIFI. Nowhere in the installation guide nor in the app does it say that WIFI password is required. I wasted a couple weeks figuring that one out.

I was looking at the maxspec version don’t know if there’s a difference

I have never used a maxspec so I can't really comment. Maxspec holds the patent for this design though and Icecap basically licensed it through them for their pumps. Same for Red Sea as well.

I have a pair of 2ks in my 80 Gallon one on each side of the tank and they work great!!! I highly recommend them. I saw someone post that they are a little difficult to get setup and I second that comment. Just bring your patience as once they are setup they are solid.

I have an icecap 3k on a frag tub and 2 xf350s in my main display. Maxspects are better hands down and worth the few extra dollars.
The flow directors also give them more of an edge in my opinion as well as how quiet they are compared to each other.

Most gyre’s can be tuned down. I only have experience with the icecap and redsea units.

I’m in the overkill camp. I have two... in a 29g biocube. I’m sure I could splash water out if these things were on 100%. I’m mixed right now, euphillia and zoa heavy but some sps too. I have them capped at 30% and they mostly pulse.

The 2K is cool and creates a ton of flow. I ended up swapping it for a 4K (on a 40 breeder!!!) purely due to width of the flow (it does make a difference, or it did for me anyway) and I can just run it at 30-40% and get plenty of flow and it's silent. So that worked better for me.

Oh, and I saw someone say something about flow directors on the Maxspects, you can get 3D printed flow directors for the 2K and 4K as well (or print them yourself if you have a printer). If you want some and end up getting a 2K, shoot me a PM and I'll send you a set that I used on my 2K before I swapped it. They're not doing me any good.
