So I want to dip my feet in the water with dosing. Before I spent a lot on a pump, I got a cheap one. The Jebao DP-4. It just came in today. So all of my parameters always check out well, except ALK and CALC. Have a 75 gallon tank with a 30 gallon sump. I was wanting to go with a pump because I have a busy schedule and want to take one more thing off the plate and this seems like the best course of action. I'm not quite certain where whats soaking all the alk and calc up, other than coraline, which I don't have a ton of.
Ammonia Nitrite always test 0, Nitrates test around .10-.15.
Calc lately has been very low in the 260 range
ALK last tested 6
I forget what Mag tested, but it was midrange.
These tests were done last weekend using a salifert test. The weekend before, they were a little higher, but not much better than that.
So my plan is to dose ALK CALC and MAG.
Right now, I am using B-Ionic 2 part. Trying to raise the levels over the last week, I have been dosing 25ml each day. Going to go test tomorrow morning.
So am looking for recommendations on what to dose. Everyone seems to be all about red seas ABC+ powder. But not sure how to set that up to dose with the pump. Should I just hook up gallon jugs of B-Ionic to the pump and let it do work. My plan is to get the chemistry back to stable conditions so I can start adding more stony corals to the tank. All I have now are nems, zoas, gsp, and another soft branch looking thing that I can never remember the name to (not kenya tree). I'm a huge fan of birds nest, so that is the first thing I am going for.
So please post some recommendations, tips, tricks, etc. I am all ears and love to learn.
