Wanting to upgrade pumps in nano cube

I am upgrading my lights on Friday to the Maxspect R420R 60w 16K and I am also thinking about getting some new pumps as well. They are just not moving water the way I would like, def need a higher flow and stronger current. If this was you, what would you use to replce the old ones? It is a self contained 28g tank.

Also, I am new to all of this. Can someone explain the difference between a powerhead and a pump? I think I have pumps right now, they sit submersed in the back of the tank with a tube going up, making an L and then pushing water into the tank. Right??? Someone help this girl out :nerd:

powerheads just move water around, the pump will lift the water up from point a to b. A sump uses water to go from the sump to the tank. The powerhead simply moves the water around the tank, like a fan.

i'm looking at the Jabeo w-10 for my 29g regular tank. you can probably look at the same. what kind of PH's do you have in the tank?

I don't think I have any power heads, I have pumps that sit down in the back bottom of the tank, there is one for each side. And then the water just gets pumped up a tube to a thing that I manually move around in the tank. They essentially look like triangular spouts, they connect to the tube from the pump.

You don't mention the brand of tank you have. If it is a JBJ28, the upgraded pump is a Maxijet 1200. Fits directly into the pump area of the tank.

However, you will still want a powerhead in the tank. I run an MP10, but any of the nano powerheads would work.

I upgraded to the maxi-jet 1200's. be advised that running them both full on the wave timer will have your water level high in the tank itself; it was starting to rust the screws because the level was so high. When I went back to wave timer switching it lowered but it also created inconsistencies with my ATO float switches because the water level rises and falls when each side is running.
