Hello All,

So my tank has just finished cycling and im new to this.

Red Sea Reefer 450.

I have a few fish and inverts in there. They seem to be doing just fine.
I am hoping to have an SPS tank but i know better then to try right off the bat.

I was wondering what you would think if i say i wanted a war coral for my first bit of coral in the tank?

I have a 20 gallon QT setup for it before hand. Any major issues anyone can think of with this?

I would always start with a small soft coral for your first coral. If you want an easy hard coral monti caps are easy and should do good provided your parameters are in check. A war coral is also quite easy but If you want to be even more safe I would start with a monti cap or small soft coral.

Thanks, i have had the soft coral advice before its just not really my thing.

When i think softy i think Zoa.

They dont seem to appeal to me aesthetically.

You'll be fine with a war coral. They aren't that difficult. Keep an eye on your parameters that's all.

they're great starter lps. I have kept one in a fishbowl for eleven years lol. your tank will be like the grand palace hotel, mine's like being kenneled, for life. its my avatar pic, the war coral is behind those others blocking it out. that pic was from about 2009 its really taken over much of the scape now.
