I’ve had this war coral frag on the sand for just over 1 week. Fading a bit and a little recession. I moved to current location this morning which is more shade and low flow. Any advice? I’ve tried to spot feed but tentacles not showing. Should I move it up in tank based on lights? All I read says low light
Biocube 32 w stock lights
Ca - 460
Alk - 9
Phos - 0
Nitrates - .25

If your war coral is fading, then it is likely getting too much light or not enough nutrients. I would move it out of direct light and keep it close to the bottom 1/3 of the tank. It will regain color as long as you keep trace elements level.

I would leave it in the lower light and make sure you don’t get any further tissue recession. I actually have this exact coral recovering in my tank now. My friend bought a nice size colony about 3x3 and placed it higher in the tank under a kessil a160. It first lost color and 95% of the red tissues died leaving just about half of the green mouths. I placed it low and in a corner(I also have a 29 cube) and basically did nothing until I saw some red tissue starting to grow. It’s been in my tank now for 5 months and about 60% of the red tissue is back and it puts out its feeders all day long. I still have it lower but towards the middle of the tank getting some decent light. I also noticed it started growing back better being on about a 45 degree slant to the light. It’s been a slow recovery but it seems like a pretty hardy type of coral.

War frags need low light , so under the 100 par , keep them in a shaded area with medium flow .. also if you wanna see Their tentacles then shine a light in at night after the lights are out .. that’s when they come out !!

Correct me if I’m wrong but the picture looks like it’s under a rock and shaded so I thought it would have to be moved up
