Hey guys/gals, I am not exactly sure what this coral is. I have looked for it but have found that people call it a war coral, meteor shower favia and a couple other things. It seems to be rather common, just wondering what it is.
THANKS

Hey Gary! They have gotten more common with the aussie orders but they're still super nice IMO. Favia pentagona I do believe. The "supplier" I assume you got it from coined it as meteor shower favia last year if I recall correctly. The first ones that came in cost about 80 bux wholesale for a 3 inch piece--that was sad.

I appreciate it guys! Casey, you are correct the supplier calls it a Meteor Shower which has made that name spread!!
I really like. After being in my sytem for about 48 hours it turned completely brown but kept the green eyes. After about two week the body came back more red than when I got it. Hope it grows fast!
Thanks again

Looks just like the Tyree War Coral.

I've seen the same coral at Phishy Business and most recently Tropicorium. Very nice looking coral!

It was called a War Coral at both places. I've yet to see one in person called a Meteor Shower but I know where you are getting the name from. ;)

I googled Meteor Shower Favia and there was a veriety of favias that came up. But the one pictured was the most common that people called a Metroe Shower.
War Coral sounds better...!

They look exactly the same. The one that I have pictured is not "puffed" up like the one that you pictured.
They are very nice coral! I figured there would be a high demand but I guess thay are pretty common....

I'm not sure about that if they are its wild stuff coming in mine was a small 1/2 inch frag a year ago and wasn't cheap but has grown to a nice colony so wild probably common now but captive grown not so common and if its become common its as of late lol.

the favites pentagona has been called the "war coral" ever since tyree made it a AE a few years ago, the Cyphastrea Ocellina was dubbed "Meteor Shower" by Mingwei at Atlantisaquarium.net a couple years back after he discovered it in a shipment but you guys can call it whatever you want, I just know that in the past 2 years that has been what most of the hobbyist have been calling these particular corals
