Morning all

I bought a war coral about a month back. Was trusting down the plug. Bought it the same time as an acan, favia and some other brain corals.
Unfortunately its starting to recede from the base. I thought maybe it was getting bleached. But it's from the sides where the top is growing and feeding. It's the same height as my acans are, which are doing very well. First pic is not long after I had it.
2nd pic is now.

Parameters are all good. Only monti near by. And some softies a few inches away.
Any ideas? Dont want to loose it if its possible.
(Was coral dipped when bought home)

The top looks fine and its readily eating when food is offered. But it has receded all the way round the base. The only thing I can think of that maybe taking a nibble is asterina starfish which I have a few in the tank. I had a large hermit crab that liked to climb over it for food. But found him dead this morning (was a few years old) he was a bully and forever moving corals around the sand bed.. so kind of glad hes gone

Mine did this and got far worse when I first got it. All my parameters were “good”. However, I stepped up my water changes and it recovered nicely. ICP tests looked good as well. Only thing I could come up with is I don’t run carbon or any other “additives” so maybe there was some kind of toxin? Just my two cent story.

I do run carbon. It's only a small tank. About 100litre. Light I dont have a par meter, but its midway up the tank towards the edge. As for flow there is movement but not blasting it in the face.

Favia care video from Tidal Gardens

Yea watched that video before I got the frag.
I'm going to move it down a little see if that helps with it. Considering all my other favia are doing ok. It's the only thing I can think of.
