So, I've been growing up a Favites pentagona (war coral; this one is generally blue-purple, except some polyps are red. I've noted that the newer polyps are redder, but the older ones turn darker it seems). After growing it massive/brain style, and after a period when it was bleaching a bit (https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/war-coral-trouble.383866/#post-4701837) and I let it recover in a club member's frag tank , I put it on a rock so it would encrust about 1-1.5 months ago.
The tiny head has grown in the past two months as it recovered, and about 3 weeks ago it started to encrust its rock. I've had a bit of a GHA problem, so I was worried it would hinder encrustation, but so far no. I think there's visible progress each day.
I've just started using ATI essentials from @ATI North America , for about a week.
Trates are about 0, except when I spot feed the numerous corals when it bumps up about 3ppm per feeding, and goes back after 2-3 days. I dose 10ml vinegar (in 110L/29G tank)
Phosphates have gotten below 0.10 for several months now, and is now in the 0.03 range
I have a massive amount of seachem matrix (about 400g), way too much which I'm going to soon remove.
Alk has been unstable until recently, but it hasn't been too much of a problem for this coral, and I'm trying to keep it around 8.0.
