I think I've gotten a war coral. I have never herd of it before. Can you guys tell me a little about it? And also I dont know how this thing grows so I was wondering where I should place it in the tank. Thank you!

Considered LPS, not that there is any real classification but anyway... Its a fairly easy coral. It grows in an encrusting nature so it will eventually cover everything it touches. It does get some sweepers and can be spot fed mysis or brine or whatever especially at night.

Yes, Favites pentagona. When Australian corals were not legally coming in yet this was an expensive and sought after piece dubbed the War Coral. Once Australian orders started coming in they've gotten pretty common and new color morphs have shown up. I give it high light and medium flow. At night or when it "smells" food it will show it's tentacles and I feed mine Cylop-Eeze or chopped mysis shrimp.

Favites pentagona aka war coral. They are a good easy coral. When nicely grow will be very impressive looking.

Should I put it somewhere on the rock? If so low medium or high? Or would i do better somewhere on the sand?

Either is ok as long as it is not getting more than low lighting. If on rock be sure it is secure and will not fall off. Many place on sand bed as it grows it will just get wider. And can be moved easily on rock it will start to encrust and will be harder to remove it.
