Hello everyone.
I know this forums are more focused to Saltwater Aquarium Hobby but, I recently received a notification from the FDA about a recall on Aqueon Beta Fish Food that is contaminated with salmonella.

Some of you may have a Beta and in special for your little one's as their first Fish to take care of. My concern is about the health of everyone since salmonella can cause serious illness and it's easy to transmit from one host to another.
I don't want to alarm everyone but this are some of the risks and situation that we as Fish Keepers need to be aware off. Not all our risk are just palytoxins, poisonous fish and invertebrates and other well discussed diseases transmitted through out the handling of our precious animals.

This is the link with more information about the recall food.

I don’t know, but I am asking.......... are fish’s digestive tracts long enough for it to matter?

I feed my dogs raw beef/chicken/organ/eggs every day...... If meat I buy for myself gets old/funky the dogs get that too..... Their digestive tracts are short so I can knowingly feed them salmonella-tainted food, it just doesn’t matter.

I have never heard of a fish getting salmonella (as far as a living one that is)

Edit. Same as salmonella scares with kibble..... the risk is to the pet owner, not the pet

The problem isn't that the fish get salmonella or not it's about the handling of the food that could sick you and your family. Take your time and read the article.

Thanks for the heads up, my sister has a beta and uses this food, i'll forward the info to her!

No problem, my pleasure, my grandson has a Beta also and just for precautions it's better to be informed than been sorry.

Yeah, I mentioned that fact.

Do you happen to sell fish food? I see a link after your posts
