I wanted to send a warning to everyone on Orphek lighting. You can of course create your own opinion, this is just me experience.

I bought the new Atlantik Compact light for a new build with their mounting arms. Item was bought direct from Orphek which may have been my first mistake! I set up the new tank this week and when I tried to mount the light to the rim of the tank, it will not fit a center over flow system. I'm prettu sure the majority of all new tank purchases operate a center overflow? Redsea, waterbox etc? Sent a quick email asking for an RA for the unused light and was told they operate on a no return,no exchange policy.

I can't be convinced they aren't aware that this system won't work on a center overflow and it seems like they don't disclaim it on purpose.

Yes - its pretty clear on their website (their warranty policy - and seems stringent!) - If also seems like even if you had bought from a dealer that might not have helped either. Just curious can you send a picture - it might help people understand 'why' it cant be mounted? (though I think I know)

It does say on the website: "As we said before, the Mount Arm Kit will fit tank thicknesses from 10 to 19mm (.39 to .74 inches). Easily screwed directly to the glass of your tank!" on BRS it also says its not compatible with eurobraced aquariums.

This,

@jmp21677 Edit: Nevermind, I just read the post again and is a compact, sorry.

On the full-size Icon you can use either the inner or outer mounting locations, this is not an option on the compact.

I do not agree with your assessment they do it on purpose, it's up to you to ensure the length of the light vs the overflow location will allow the mounts to work, you can always post it for sale on the forums.

I know it's more money but you can pick up these so it widens out the footprint and allows the compact to be mounted- https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/universal-led-mounting-bracket-orphek.html

The issue is not tank thickness. The mounting arms sit to close together to avoid the overflow. This would be true on any center overflow tank using the compact fixture. Their only solution is to spend an additional $80 and screw directly to the stand. .. on a running tank that's not an option. At least not for me. I didn't leave enough room between the tank and wall to screw something into the stand. It's weird, but I can't believe for a second that they aren't aware of this.

For example on my tank I have a center overflow - and the mount would work. Thats why I was curious - as to what type of overflow (or a picture) - showing why it 'wouldn't work' - would help other people.

I only mentioned the mention on the website of the glass thickness - because it seems to suggest that it can only be mounted on glass. I wasn't trying to criticize your opinion or your post.

I didn't take it as you critcizing at all. If I'm going to post an opinion, I better be prepared for questions and peoole to not agree. I was even hoping someone, would say " Hey, dumb dumb! You're using the mount wrong"!

Can you hang it? They look way sexier that way anyways.
