Was I shipped the "wrong" yellow watchman goby?

Grey Watchman gobies aren’t a sign of the sexual dimorphism. It used to be believed that they were however after further research it isn’t. You can find breeding pairs of grey watchman gobies as well as breeding pairs of yellow watchman gobies.
The Cryptocentrus cinctus being grey is still an unknown phenomenon that occurs in captivity however there are many different thoughts as to why it occurs. One was possibly if it was an alpha female but as I said, this theory was false as you can get mature breeding pairs of both colours. Stress is another thought however some of these fish will stay grey their whole life and not be stressed.
