Does anyone have experience washing sock filters in the washing machine? I've heard about people washing them with no detergent. I have about a dozen of these, and I'd really like to reuse them in some efficient manner.

I run mine with Oxyclean using the directions for my front load washer. I try to rinse as much loose goo out of them as I can first. I do 6-9 7 inch felt socks in a load.

I wash mine in machine and simply warm water only - no soap, bleach ... nothing
My mesh- I clean by hand

I do about 30 in my large front loader, gives me a lot of time between loads.

What if it's below zero outside?

There are a lot of threads on this. I think the folks that use the washing machine are using bleach or oxi-clean, but no detergent, fabric softener, etc. Not sure if it needs to be hot or cold water, but I think most are also using a second rinse cycle to make sure they get out bleach etc.

Personally, I collect them and take them to the local car wash that has power washers. Just ran the power washer on the rinse cycle, and then when I got home I'd do a final rinse using "Prime" to make sure I've taken out any chlorine, etc. Now I've switched to a roller filter, but still use socks as needed.
