I am new here but not to the hobby.

My name is Steve. I am President of MAAST in San Antonio/Austin, Texas. I have a 280g Peninsula Brick Tank of predominately SPS. My wife, son and I each have SW tanks. I use to do MH but now have all T5s. I pretty much built alot of the things for my tank. To hold this to the minimum, I will pst my tank build link below. I will post pix when it is possible. I'm glad to be here.

Nice build Steve, and welcom to R2R. I just built a 300 myself and we completed them about the same time. Sorry to hear about the temp issue.

I too have a Dussumieri Tang, love that fish. He just got out of QT and has been in the main display for a week now. Tell me, are you concerned about the Vlamingi getting too big? I want one but have been talked out of it, a couple of times.

Here is my build and again, welcome!

Welcome to R2R Steve! I am off to read through your thread! :D

Welcome Steve, I just went thru your build thread and I'm very impressed with the way you set your system up. Sorry to see that you lost all of those corals with the heat issue. I'm sure you will build them back up.
How do all of your tangs get along?

Thanks everyone, glad to be here.

All the Tangs do great together. Just the little tiffs you have in any tank. I'm not too concerned with the Vlimangii getting too big too soon. I have had him for almost 2 yrs now. All my fish were named by my wife...

Vlimangii....Zues
Unicorn...Apollo
Hippo...Hannah
Kole...Mikey (he eats anything)
Sm Purple...Merlin
Lg Purple...Barney
Sm Desjardini...Moses
Lg Desjardini...Jesus (pronounced Hey - Soos)*
Mustard..The Colonel
Dussimere...Pierre

* Jesus got his name when we purchased him, it took a while to get home and instead of putting him in a bucket, the store put him in a bag. We were about 30 miles from home and I asked the wife to check and make sure the bag was still cool, it was but the fish was flat on the bottom of the bag. I told the wife to bump the bag and we saw a little of pec-fn movement, so I told her to stand him up and shake the bag bck and forth to get water over his gills. We did this for 20 miles to one of our LFS and "splash acclimated" him and put him in a tank by himself. We had to continually get hime to swim around and he was breathing real hard. We stayed and watched him for 3 hrs. We asked to leave him overnight and when we returned the next day, it was if nothing happened to him. So, in honor of where we live in San Antonio, Tx, we named him Jesus (Hey-Soos).

Sorry for the long-windedness...I'm from Texas..Native Texan...lol

Steve
