I set up a 40b not long ago named Tankenstien, about 150g total water in the system. I set everything up and got the water going. Since I have watched the brown bloom (diatoms), then the green film bloom, then the cyano, now it's time for the hair algae and pods! The pods are so thick it is almost a white film on the glass.

I love watching these things happen and I know I can't be the only one. Within a month or so it will settle down and I will be giving some critters a new home, until then I guess sitting and watching is going to have to keep me entertained.

I see alot of new guys and gals freaking out "OMG I have an infestation of HA! How to I eradicate it??" when all you have to do is wait... maybe knowing it is just a part of the cycle after the cycle will help them chill and relax.

I agree and they are beneficial for the most part. Do you have snails and crabs yet?

I just added snails this week, a bare bones clean up crew is what I ordered. 35 snails and 5 blue legs 2 red legs.

I would love to get pics for ya Skinz but I have not put them out online somewhere but to give you an idea.... 40b DT, 75g sump, 20long fuge 20 long DSB. 40 drains to 75, 75 has 2 returns one to the 40 and one to a spray bar over the fuge which gravity feeds the DSB which gravity feeds back to the 75.

I love the pod bloom! it really took off today, I can barely see into the tank because there are so many!
