so I purchased a nice size diamond watchman goby after acclimation of about an hr I release him into my tank only for him to disappear. I have a 75 gal with a lot of rock I seen him the same night laying on the sand bed in the back of the tank. After I woke up in the am he was gone. I have not seen him or any signs of him at all.i have a couple tunnels show up under my rock but no other evidence of him being alive. Does anyone know of a way to try and hoax him out from under the rock to see if hes even still alive its about mo. now since I bought him

My guess is he's fine! I have a YWG paired with a pistol in a 29g cube....he disappears frequently. One week I see him almost every day then poof....gone for a month. With the size of your display he has tons of hiding spots.

ok I got my water checked recently everything was fine but my ph was at about 7.0ish I have a bad bloom of brown algae so I can see clearly if the sand had been shifted thru or anything and there hasn't been nothing..i bought a green pistol shrimp from aquarium depot (only because I had a created on my account from then sending me D.O.A. items for a month)...but Im hoping the GPS will pair up with the goby (if he alive) and I will start seeing more him.. he just such a pretty fish to hide all the time lol

It is amazing when you get a glimpse of a Goby and Pistol pair working. One of the coolest things You'll ever see in your tank! Listen for your pistol, you'll hear him snapping in there too:). Not sure a Diamond will pair with a pistol though?

ya my brother in law has a 40 breeder with like 3 small rocks and you can look under his tank and see the cave system his pair has made..im excited and hope all is well I need something pushing and sifting thru my sand bed..so ya hopefully he is still alive. he was a good 3 tp 4 inches long

Diamond gobies, though sometimes sold as diamond watchman gobies, are not actually a watchman goby. They are a sand sifter and do not pr with pistol shrimp. Also, they are significantly more visible in a tank, as they should be out sifting sand almost constantly. Hiding for a couple of days is normal, but should end quickly.

They are also accomplished jumpers, so if there are any openings in the top, it may have jumped.

My diamond has been out sifting sand daily since day 1. Fwiw
