Has anyone else had there firefish and watchman goby pair? I know it's not an actual pairing like a shrimp, but these guys are best buds. They share the same hideout. They come out together and go back in together. It's kind of funny to watch. When the firefish is eating the goby almost comes out and looks at him as if he's saying feed me!!!

Pairing not likely, but hanging out- yes

mine don't hang out together. Neither really hangs out with anyone else in tank either. My diamond goby barely pauses all day just constantly seems to be hyperactively rearranging sand. Wondering if age has anything to do with it because your goby seems very young/small.

In contrast, my firefish/dartfish is chill and has preferred using 'caves' aka hole(s) in lace rock instead of sand... though first few months it may have spent more time in sand than it has since discovering lace rock holes - some go all the way thru but sometimes I catch it coming out backwards.

Glad yours have become friends!

In the wild, burrows inhabited by gobies and their symbiotic shrimps are sometimes used by Dartfish (of which Firefish are a kind) as shelter. It’s like small fish low on the food chain banding together.

Yeah it's fun to watch. The originally didn't share the burrow but they became cool and 2 days after they were in the tank the shared the burrow.
