So I have decided to take my yellow watchman goby back to the lfs. He constantly hides and now he is becoming more aggressive towards his tank mates. I have made a fish trap out of a water bottle and put some mysis in it to entice him in there. It has already caught my molly so I went ahead and put her in qt so she wont get stuck in there again. I did leave the house for a few hours and came back to the bottle tipped right side up and leaning on my hammer coral and covered in bubbles. I'm thinking he went in and freaked out so bad he moved the bottle and eventually found his way out. What are the chances he will go back in the trap? Any kind of tips are welcomed.

No luck yet. I took the bottle out for the night and just put it back in. I haven't fed the tank for a few days already so I know he has to be hungry. At the moment, he is peeking out of his spot under his rock watching my hermit trying to get in to get the food.

I know, he just sits there looking at it. I was hoping to catch him before the big move but if not then oh well, I will just have to take him with me.

Watchman gobies arent typically agressive. mine will open his mouth and chase away stuff from his den but never nipa or bites...He usually gets put i his place by my female clown, so he stopped messing with her lol. When I first got him all he did was hide for the first 2 weeks lol. But thats about it. Also having a bare bottom could cause some issues maybe? since they like to have some substrate to dig in, I dont know though. But otherwise he is a great tank mate. :) Good luck catching him, from the pic he does look like his is on to you. haha.

you shouldn't take them out watchman gobies are great .Specially when you get him a pistol shrimp they form a great companionship .If you really want him out just take the lid of your tank and wait a couple days .I have had 5 watchman gobies and 4 have jumped out of my tank .Finally i put a screen on top and havent had that problem anymore.i have also caught many fish with the bottle method. If i may recommend you don't take the bottle out of the tank even when you gave up catching him for the day . That way they get use to the bottle and are not afraid to go in there and feed.Once he starts seeing everyone go in there for food he will follow.Specially if you starve him for a couple days. Best of luck.

These bottle traps work I caught 2 out of 4 damsel that were in my tank but I didnt feed them for 3 days then started to put food in the traps

He killed my juvenile bicolor blenny and goes after my molly. I just recently made the tank bb. After the move to tx, I'm wanting to get a different goby with more personality.
