Can the watchman goby pair up with more than one pistol shrimp? Can he command several workers?

I think it’s 1 shrimp per goby

I have seen a watchman with 2 pistols. The owner thought the first pistol had died.

Yeah I got a pair last night not thinking. Both are very tiny. Maybe 3/4 inch. Think my gramma may have had a snack as he was eyeing him up in there..... so may do like the other owner and add a second worker be in case he did. Maybe a little bigger this time lol

I have a hi fin goby and candy cane pistol in mine. My pistol is probably not 1/2"

My ywg and candy cane pistol are a stunning pair. I was planning on setting up my camera this weekend to get some pics of them. They're very shy. It'll be tough to get them both out in the open.

Yes I agree!
Could get lucky and end up with a mated pair of pistol shrimp:)
Do your pairs always hang out? Mine went right to work together all through the night and rearranged all the sand..... now I can’t find the shrimp.

I'm betting your shrimp is there.

Just what I have ! Awesome how they found themselves across the tank, so cool how that works. They look so tiny in my tank. If it’s normal the shrimp goes off and does his own thing than I’m hoping he’s hanging out alone. The way the gramma was looking at it though I doubt it.

Once the shrimp finds a spot under the rock, I don't think the gramma could get to him easily. The snap from the shrimp is a pretty decent deterrent. Mine can be heard from across the basement and over my tv. It might be an inch long at best.

This will vary. I don't hear it all the time. When I feed the tank, I hear the shrimp go off several times. Seems to happen again just after lights out.
But daily usually? I’ve yet to hear it

It did take around 10 days for mine to settle into a routine. The shrimp was added after the goby was in the tank for 3 months of so. The goby always seemed lost. Once the shrimp went in, the goby followed it from burrow to burrow till they found the right one. The shrimp is the leader in the pair I have for sure. The goby will follow the shrimp anywhere in the tank. Give it some time:)
