Hey guys and gals! I was wondering how much water you would change if you were me in my 250g?

These are regular water changes. How much would you do?

Thanks.

20% - 25%... Every Other Week. Basically 50-60 gallons

20% a month is what i do....5 gal a week for my 90.

i would say for you....50 gal a month.

I change out 30 gallons every other week, sometimes every week. In my 225g
I try to vacuum parts of my sandbed once a month and vacuum my sump out once every other month.

Rev change 5% weekly and that way your corals have there trace elements replenish
250 x 5% = 12.5 gallones weekly that will be 50 gallons a month with no back pain

Well I have a 140 tank and a 60 gallon sump but I take into consideration of how much actual water volume is there so Im doing about 30-35 gallons a month.I try to do it every weekend and break it down some but most of the time I'll take so much out every two weeks.

i do 25% water changes biweekly. with good results. i would say 20% is a good number and i do biweekly cause cant do it every weekend. but ive heard a lot of people do weekly water changes with good results.

i have about 400g total volume. part of that 400g is a dedicated 50g rubbermaid tub that i use for my water changes. it has a drain line attached to a large sink. i simply close the valve feeding this tub, open the drain line valve, pump in fresh ro/di, add salt, mix for 24 hours, and reverse the valves to add it back to they system. i do this about every 2 weeks...weekly when i'm on top of my game.

I would say 10% weekly (25 Gallons).

I have a 32 gallon brute trashcan with a float valve tied into
my RODI unit; The float valve is set to shutoff at 25 gallons.

I have a powerhead and a heater in the brute trashcan
to heat and mix it.

I use a Maxi-Jet 1200 with a 5/8" hose clamped to the output
that I use to move the water around with.

Water change:

1. Pump out 25 gallons of old water from the sump down the drain.

2. Pump in 25 gallons of new saltwater from the brute trashcan to the sump.

3. Refill the brute trashcan with RODI, add salt and let it mix for the next week.

Easy and no lifting (good for a guy with a bad back).

Hope this helps

I have about 200 gallons and do 40 gallons every other week. I drain it out into the backyard and then bucket brigade 40 gallons into the house (8 five gallon bucket trips), then I move 40 gallons of ro/di to the mixing vessel and get it ready for the next change. I have plans to automate this, but pending a lottery win, I can't afford to do it "right".

i have 300+ gal in the system and seem a bit lazy according to the responses

i only do 5 or 10 gal a weekend

i do it the old fashion way with a syphon and bucket and have two areas in my sump system designed to accumulate detritus and i suck them out. if one bucket is enough to get out all the detritus - that is all i do, but sometimes i do a little better job of cleaning and change out two

i honestly think that to much can be just as bad as too little because large water changes tend to mess with alkalinity, so whatever amount you decide on i would try to do it weekly

I will add I neglected my water changes for a long time,
when I started doing them again my corals perked up.
