I have a 125 gallon tank. I change 30% every week sometimes as work gets busy I push it off for a extra week. My tank is healthy coral is growing anemones are huge and happy.

Big water changes take me so long to do. Part my mixing set up and moving water in buckets.
What if I change only 5 gallons every day or every other day. I’d be changing the same amount of water every week. Just be less time needed when my work schedule gets crazy. Thanks for any input

Either method is acceptable. Larger changes are necessary when problems occur, so in your case, smaller is acceptable

I like the sound of small consistent changes! Making for an even more stable reef environment ;)

Is there any reason you are changing so much every week? I have a 200 gallon and change 25% every month and I have plenty of larger fish that I overfeed like crazy and I never have Nitrates over 5 PPM and have 0 Phosphate. The only real reason I even do water changes is to vacuum the sand bed since I do not have any sand sifting CUC in it yet. I actually want to get my Nitrates up a bit since my algae is almost done with QT and I will be adding it to my refugium soon.

Do you test your parameters and change according to the results or do you just do water changes because you think you have to? Just curious...

Small frequent water changes put my tank in a perpetual cycle of being unstable; I guess it works for some people.

It would seem you are changing out the same amount of water. Its really not the case. You are mixing tank water with new water each change. Each change takes some of new and old out.
It can work for you. The only way to know is to try it.
While it is tempting to make things easier, if my tank was doing great I would not mess with sucess.

+1 on the big tank. why are you changing such big quantities so often? why change 5g/ day? are you doing it for nutrient control or to add back in some other elements?
