Water change info for a newb

Just started a 14g biocube two days ago, and had some questions about water changes. I see tons of people doing anywhere from 10% to 50% changes weekly, biweekly triweekly etc.

After rock and sand my 14g cube actually held about 9 gallons total. So Im wondering how much of a change should I do? a gallon would put me over 10% but if theres a benefit I wouldn't mind doing more. Ill be running chemipure and purigen with filter floss on the top tray. No skimmer and hood/rimless. I have roughly 12-14lbs of LR in it with about 15lbs of livesand. Livestock plans are for decently large cuc, and two clowns, and eventually a bta but that's well down the road.

A gallon a week should be fine and easy to measure. As far as getting a bta, it might be difficult with a nano. I think they're pretty sensitive. Clowns can do fine without them.

10 to 20% a week is roughly the going rate it doesn't have to be exact doing any more than that may upset your system

I kept a bta in a 14 biocube with no issues other then size. It will quickly be so big it stings other corals. I did weekly 5 gallon water changes which was probably 60 percent. It may not be necessary but it was simple enough and kept everything happy.

On that size anything from 1-3 gal would be efficient. A nem can be kept but like mentioned. Just becarful with placement of other corals

for you nem keepers, would I be better off establishing a nem first and once he's happy stocking some frags and clowns?

I would suggest the anemone first. Let it find a place it likes before placing frags. My anemones have never moved once they settle in.

I might be wrong but, it to my understanding an anemone should be added to an establish tank.

I'd stick with that one gallon change. As for adding then anem I'd wait and let your tank have sometime. Then get a small one so you can keep it longer.
