So my tank (90ish gallons, total volume) is a little over 2 weeks old. It cycled it in a few days using Brightwell's Microbacter Start XLM. Last week ammonia and nitrate was 0, nitrate at 2 (using Red Sea test kit) and phosphates were at .104ppm (Hanna phosphorous checker). I added some chaeto last Wednesday (1/22) which has been growing rapidly. I tested my water today and my ammonia, nitrite is at 0, nitrate is either 0 or close to undetectable and phosphates are down to .04ppm. I currently only have 3 fish and am adding a relatively small CUC this Friday (1/31). I believe my phosphates are within a good range and I may cut down the photoperiod on my refugium to let my nitrates go up a bit. I am running carbon to keep water clear and a UV sterilizer 24/7 since last week. Should I wait to do a water change?

Because I have no idea what I'm doing lol

My last tank was a nightmare. I made a ton of mistakes and had algae problems from the beginning. I was a little lax on maintenance and I'm trying not to make the same mistakes this time around.

0s are going to cause you problems long term. Try to dose up if you can, up to .1, 16or so. Nothing wrong with doing a wc though, start early get into the routine and start dilution of any leftover mfg residue chemicals in the tank
