Hey guys:) , so I've put myself in a rough spot by neglecting my water changes, yes yes I know:/ my nitrates are very high (160ish), and I want to know what the biggest safest water change I could do. Thanks in Advance for any help:) (Edit: my tank is 24 gallons)

Depends on what's in your tank, your current dissolved nutrients, and your goal.

Multiple 10% Water changes a few times a week for the next two months would be on the aggressive side

I would start off with a 50%. Then another 50% after 3 days. Then every 3 days do a 25%. Till it gets back down to below 10ppm. Then do weeklies of 50%.
Buy a protein skimmer like A Reef Octopus BH 1000. Just make sure you have enough space between the wall and back glass or otherwise you will need to drain it down low, grab a friend who is not a klutz, and lift the tank on the stand out from the wall a little bit.

Depending on corals etc in the system I would recommend changes of 10-20% unless you have a very good reason for large changes. I guess in a system that size multiple/frequent 10% changes would be fairly easy for you.

This will keep the water parameters reasonably stable

If its fish only then you can be a bit more aggressive

And welcome to R2R as well by the way!

If you have a couple 5 gallon buckets (20%) you can have one heating and "curing" for a few days while other is ready and can be added. Two or three times a week and you'll be good to go before you know it.
