I have a 150 gallon tank and a 30 gallon sump. How big of a water change is too big? I have a bit of a hair algae problem and was thinking of doing a 60 gallon change... Too big? Usually I do 30 gallons.

IMO you can do water changes until the cows come home, but i'd try to improve your filtration so you don't have to do as many water changes. Even if you change the water and nothing else, the nutrients are going to end up in the same place and you'll have to do even more water changes down the road. With that being said, i'm not sure there's a golden rule to how much of a water change you should do, my guess is it depends on how bad your algae issue is and how quickly the nutrients are building in your system. If you usually do 30; 50 or 60 would be a good start, I just wouldn't do too many of those to often.

yeah you can do water changes til ur blue in the face, the hair algae is caused by something else going on
