Water change to grass

I take my 5g bucket of old tank water and toss it off the back porch... all my weeds are still alive. It won't hurt your septic either, I have one of those too.
How do you know it won't hurt your septic? Just because you haven't seen a problem yet, doesn't mean it won't happen in the future because of the salt. It just makes sense that the salt will stay in the lateral area and keep building up. I don't believe it's worth the risk of damaging the system when it can be avoided. My home had a garbage disposal when we bought it. I took it out after I realized it wasn't good to put that much food, including grease into the septic. Yet I know there are people that have disposals with septic. It will catch up to them some day.

just a thought but how much saltwater versus just waste water would be in a 1000 gal septic tank .....im no expert but I think the amount of salted water would just go away considering how much water gets ran in the sink or tub, shower and flushing toilets daily compared to 20 ,30 ,gallons of saltwater in a couple weeks ......just my thinking anyway

My house has a well and salt re-charged water softener and a septic system. I would assume most houses off the city's water/sewer system would. Doesn't make sense that it's against code since licensed companies installed them.

I've been running my discarded water changed water down the drain for over 12 years. Haven't had a problem (yet) but now you got me worried:eek:

Those with plastic tanks have no reason to worry those with concrete tanks have steel baffles in them and the higher salt levels rot out the baffles . I'm no expert but I worked in a septic tank forming yard years ago and grew up in a home with a septic and now own a home with a septic. I would not be concerned with salt clogging anything because it should stay in suspension while wet and once your tank is full of water it will always be full of water ... and waste. Even your leach field will always be wet.
Everyone feel free to do as you wish. I will continue to keep the salt brine out of my septic. I do agree the amount of fish water to house hold waste water is not even close but I know it's not worth digging up my system to replace my septic tank. I'll keep dumping outside oh and for what it's worth many house hold septic systems bypass the tank with "gray water " and that goes right out to the leach field or to a dry well then to a leach . In those homes there is also no reason to worry. Mine is 2 years old and it cost 30k to install.. and everything hits the tank first so no salt in there for me .
