So I did my first water change and just want to check. my water is pretty cloudy now, does that mean I didn't let my salt water mix enough? let me add that I did blast the rocks a bit during refill to clean them up, so I guess that might be it.

Was the water cloudy in your bucket? Also if you hit the sand that could cause the water to get cloudy as well

I think it was clear, but hard to tell because it was in the large garbage can(changed 20 gallons or so in my 150).
It may just be the rock debris and substrate... Oh well I guess I will have to wait and see. so far my clowns are looking just fine.

Ok. What salt are you using. And how are your mixing the water? Very could be debris off the rock

Im using instant ocean. I'm mixing in heated water in a large trash can using a tunze pump.

Good deal. I switched from Instant Ocean to Reef Cystals when I got my reef tank. I was going to suggest using the pump for mixing but you are already lol.

How long has the tank been running before this water change? Even with the cleaning of the rocks, it should have settled within an hour. I started a new 45g tank thats been running for 5 weeks. It cleared up pretty well after the cycle, then I did a 5g WC and it became cloudy again and has yet to become as clear as it was before. I feel that it may have triggered another mini cycle to the tank even though tests show the water is in good parameter standings. So now really sure but thats all I can come up with.

It's been a few hours and clearing up well just not 100% yet. It's been up and cycled, I have had fish for a few weeks I am waiting for a little more settling before I do all my tests but I doubt 20 gallons in a 150 plus sump can cause a mini cycle.

I have it but haven't started running it yet. was gonna make sure everything else was stable for a few months first.

The GFO and carbon will help keep water clear. I never had a water change make my water cloudy.
