Figured I would start a thread on how everyone conducts their water changes.
I just recently started doing 5 gal every other day on my 250gal system. I have five 5 gal jugs that I store Rodi water in and every day mix the salt to the right salinity and let it mix for 24 hours before doing the change!
What's your process???

I usually try to do 10 a week on my 70g system. I usually mix the water in a big tote for 24 hours and use it as I need it. If I know I'm going to do a water change tomorrow I would turn on the pump and heater in the water mixing station and let it warm up and circulate over night before I do my WC.

I was doing 20 gallons a week on my 90 gallon reef but recently backed off to 20 every 2 weeks.

I am doing 15 gallons on my 90g. I fill my barrel with enough RODI, heat, add salt, let mix 24+ hours, siphon out water and detritus (blow stuff off fake reef and rocks), refill with water.

I'm doing about 10 PERCENT weekly on my 650g system. I'm currently battling a slight PO4 problem though so I'll probably cut down a little once I'm past it.

I do 100% every five days but for some reason I keep have ammonia and nitrite spikes.… just kidding I do about 15 to 20% every two to three weeks

I do 75 to 80 gal every 12 to 14 days. 300 gallon mixed reef. Cant stop feeding my fish lol. They are always looking at me.

I do 25% every 7-10 days (tank is 28 gallons, probably 20 gallons of water, so 5 gallon water change). I had been working on getting nitrates down, and they are fairly stable and about where I want them now, so I will probably start doing 25% every two weeks (it’s just easier to do a full bucket worth).

How much and how often you need to change water is dependent on your levels and tank needs. If you dont dose, then water changes will replenish alkalinity calcium and magnesium and get rid of unwanted nitrates and phosphates. So if nitrates and phosphates are high you need to do larger water changes or change more often. If alk, cal, and mg are low itd be the same, or you can start dosing them.

That said i dose and do 15% weekly in my 265gallon

Really depends onces it matures you can reduce you water changes. Currently im aiming to do weekly 200L tank and do 35L every week. However today been waterchange day I did a large 90L water change mainly to bring my Nitrates and phosphates down.

I change around 10% of my water every weekend on my 40-gallon breeder (with half-filled 20-gallon high sump) using half RODI, half tap water mixed with 2.5 mL of API Stress Coat and Red Sea Salt (not Coral Pro) for several hours.
