I know that this has been done before but I would like for this poll to be a little different.

I am doing some research on water changes in our reef tanks and would like to know who does them and who does not. In order to have a better reference I would like for everyone to post a full tank view picture of your aquarium especially if you do not perform at least a monthly water change. Also indicate how often and how much water you change each month and don’t forget to mention the size of your tank.

We often hear from those who do not perform water changes and how good their tanks are doing but the reason for the pictures is to get a better idea of what the total load on the system is. Please do not debate the topic on this thread as I am just after the raw data. Thanks.

weekly 5g in my 55g tank. Used to do every other week but my tank has looked better since I picked it up.

bi-weekly ..... 35 gallons on a 120 gallon

I do between 15-20 gallons a week out of my 75 with 20g sump. I think its doing well so far for 6 month old tank :D

I do once a week 180g = 20g , 90g =10g

I try and do weekly waterchanges on my 3 tanks. It comes out to be about 10% or 50 gallons total changed as that is the size of my saltwater mixing container!

Water changes on my 210 system are from 25 to 35 gallons once a month.
Top off is solely by steady kalwasser drip, and do to the number of calcifying specimens I still add calcium and dKH buffer every 7 to 10 days and test every weekend.

We have a 190 and 225. I change 5 gallons each weekly. Been doing that for 9 years and I'm very happy with the results.

I have to be the flunky in the group. I have not done a water change in over a year. I am a lazy reefer, I know. Tank is a 210. No algae. Will upload a pic.

Interesting! Do you run a skimmer? Do you ever have to add salt mix to compensate for what the skimmer removed?

Do you supplement with trace elements? If so, what?

More questions to follow.
