Ok guys so I finally got my numbers near perfect...for now! Haha

I currently have a 55 gallon with a 13 gallon sump. What is the BEST water change schedule. How often and how much?

In a month I will be moving to a 72 gallon tank with a 29 gallon sump. For this system what is the BEST water change schedule. How often and how much?

I've heard of people doing 1% every single day. I've also heard the other extreme of people doing no water changes. I just want to do whatever is going to be best for my tank. Thanks!!

20% once a month. I've tried the every day, once a week and every other week and have found no differance. Well the once a month does help me keep my hands out of the tank. The only other thing I'd do is when I'm in a house I'll have a system set up to change water daily by itself...

I do 5g bi-weekly on my 40B/20L sump. Total water volume is about 47g. This has worked for me so's there are no changes in my parameters and I'm replacing trace elements. Which is my main reason for doing them.

Honestly what's best for me or someone else might not be best for you. I can only suggest try doing everything and see what is best for YOUR system and your schedule.

I have a 72 bowfront with a 20l sump and I do 5 gallons a week.. well, sometimes I miss a week.LOL. but I think that's a good number to aim for and it's reasonable.
