I have a 10 gal tank. Would changing out a gallon of water per day be too much?

i had a 30g and i was doing 50% water changes. to each his own tho cus everyone does things differently. you can try 1 gal but dont be afraid to do 3 or more. depends what you have in tank too if only one fish then u might be ok anything more than id do 30-50%

this is the way I see and apply water changes in my old system

if we changed 100% every morning in a way that didn't stir up waste, that would be ideal param control, eliminate all dosing and most forms of required algae control, it would allow for maximum feeding so that we would barely approach the feed available in the wild. this confers strength to your system, and to individuals via disease resistance since having completely clean water suspended with undegraded varied feed proteins is ideal and they can add mass without being infested with algae/param issues

since that's not practical, pick the degree work willing to be done, and # of design/mechanical and chemical offsets required to support a given param. that being said, if you don't mind the work, there is no amnt of water changes that can harm as long as you aren't stirring up rotten waste pouring back in. if that's the case, rid the tank of such condition

if you changed ten gallons every day at 8 am (and could do that without fish exposure to air etc, speaking of the overall tank benefits not exclusive details like that) your system would only thrive not decline in every way.
