water changes

For a new tank the general guide is 10% per week as already said

For an established tank (at least 1 year old) it could be 10% per month or whatever you feel is necessary

I currently do 10% per month on both my systems. With modern filtration and additives, you don’t need to do 10% weekly indefinitely but it’s personal choice.

It’s personal preference. In my S650 which is 4 1/2 years old I’ve done both zero changes for 6 months while planning a new tank as an experiment, and it made no difference, and 10% monthly and also it made no difference to parameters.

I just feel it’s the right way forward so in both tanks I’m doing 10% monthly as well, because it makes me feel better!

It all depends on the individual system, maintenance etc.
