for the last 3 months I started losing some my corals. Checked everything and can't seem to find the issue. I noticed one day the foil backings that come with the frozen food in the tank and wondered if that could be the culprit . Been doing water changes and nothin is changing. The Fish are ok. Lost my coral banded shrimp and some emerald crabs. I a have 6 stage LiquaGen R0/DI system and I change out all the filters when I see the DI cartridges going brown. One thing I never did or thought of doing was to change out the RO Membrane. Does that needs changing or just cleaning.
I am running MH/T5 and two blue Led strips. The bulbs where just changed in the summer time.
My water parameters are with in normal range . I do not dose .

Any suggestions.

I don't think it's the foil I have done that before and everything was fine. And yes RO membrane needs to change out often depends of your tap water TDS

First off, it's not your RO membrane. I've had the same membrane for maybe 14 years. Change out all other filters once a year.

I'd be curious about your Alk, Calc and Mag numbers. If you have hard corals of decent size, you need to do something about supplementing these three guys.....calcium reactor; kalkwasser; two part...something! Water changes will not keep up with demand.

I will check my parameters again this weekend. I used to dose B-ionic two parts. Cant really say why I stopped and if the changes started after I stopped.

I had two hammer, two torches and lost them. I have 4 zoas, they use to open up bigger than they are now, but still thriving.. I had about 20 frags that was doing well on the frag racks. (only a few left) I have a leather toadstool, that's hanging on for dear life...

Filteration - have a roller mat that I don't use any more. I only use a skimmer and only do water changes once every two months cause the tank was too clean. Would not grow algae or coral algae. Haven't run carbon or GFO in awhile. My UV sterilizer is always on...220 gal DT, 36gal sump.

I just want to make sure everything is good before I go to my first frag swap to load up

I feel so stupid.

You were absolutely right. I decided to dose my two part B-ionic, polyp lab booster, feed some reef roids, Neo nitro, seachem reef complete last night. My wife just called and said my Zoas opened up like they used to and my leather toadstool polyps are extending. I never thought those little frags would consume so much...Thank you
