So, I've been reading the horror stories about chloramines in the water supply and that sometimes, they make it past an RO filter. I've verified that our water here in Northampton is chloriminated by Anglian Water.

I'm hoping that when I'm setting up, I'll be able to get a filter that can handle chloramine, but does anyone here take precautions such as dosing a conditioner like prime to their filtered water?

I have to say I'm a bit worried that I wont be filtering this out and may not realise it until it's too late.

Welp you could try one at a time of these three options

Pentek whole house filter

My water is treated with chloramine, I run it through back to back 5 micron carbon filters followed by a 1micron carbon block. I have 1 TDS coming out of RO into DI. I am getting well over 250 gallons of RODI water on this same DI resin, meaning it’s being exhausted extremely slow.

I was very worried at first too. What I’m getting at is I wouldn’t worry too much. I wouldn’t spend extra on those filters that are designed for chlorine/amine. Just add additional carbon blocks, imo.

Could you not just dose Prime? It eliminates chlorine, chloramine and binds ammonia atoms. It’s my freshwater staple and I’ve heard it’s reef safe. It’s fairly cheap, and found most anywhere.

Aerate water for 3 days, after going thru RODI system. Peace of mind

I was considering something like this as a "prefilter" to a 4-stage RO/DI.

Or is that overkill?

I don’t think anything is ever overkill, especially if it gives you piece of mind , give it a shot! I know brs sells a few chloramine specific carts as well.

For long term use and depending on how much chloramine's you have in your water a 10" filter is not enough. The monster or a Pentek 4" x 20" filter for chloramine is the only way to go long term

Anglian says:

Chlorine (free) No legal Limit mg/l 24 <0.05 <0.06 0.12

Chlorine (total) No legal Limit mg/l 24 0.22 0.53 0.81
