Hey guys I just purchased a new(used) 55 gallon plastic water container. It was used to store vinegar prior me purchasing it. I plan on using it to store RODI water for tank top off. The gentleman I bought this container from gave it a thorough rinse with a power washer, but it still has a strong odor of vinegar. Is there anything I should do before using it to store my RODI water? I.E. let it set out in texas sun for a few days to completely dry. I have used a brute trash can in the past, which split while full of water(whole other story), so I am at a loss for what to do with this newer container. Any and all information is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Brian

I'd rinse it again and taste the water. If it tasted like vinegar I keep rinsing. Just me...

You could leave it air out for a few days, but it will still be good to use either way. Mine smelled like Soy Sauce for awhile.

Talking about storing tank water, what is a safe container to use for ATO water? I am currently fighting a battle with dinoflagellates and trying to figure out what caused them. I suspect the outbreak was caused by my RO/DI unit however I also wonder if it's the 18 gallon storage bin from Home Depot that I've been using for approx.1.5 months. Any thoughts on this?

As already stated, let it dry out a couple days and you'll be good to go.

Is the container listed as being Food Grade and BPA Free? It doesn't necessarily have to be, but I trust these containers the most

thanks for the replies everyone. I rinsed one more time today, and now it is airing out in the yard. The container was food grade. Not sure about BPA, as I didn't ask the gentleman who sold it to me. Now I need to make a platform with wheels to store it on. Thanks again for the replies
