I’ve got an RODI UNIT and am now mixing my own water. The only issue I have is that I can’t keep up ahead of the water changes so never have any water pre mixed. I use 10l barrels and already struggle to hold them high enough to refill the tank.

If I got some bigger containers that have taps on them, would they work or would the salt mix just clog them up?.

Use a hose to siphon water out and A small pump capable of pumping the new mixed water into the display

the same pump can be used for mixing .
rinse with freshwater after for storage until needed next time .

I use a siphon to take the water out but didn’t know you could use a pump to return the water. I’ve been struggling trying to hold buckets and barrels above the tank ‍♀️

Yes, getting bigger containers would allow you to make water ahead of time.
Using a pump for water changes is a great way to save your back and minimize spills. I highly recommend it.

i did my first water change of 20g. i used a small 20w fountain pump (its cheap) to syphon and then add water from the barrel i mixed fresh salt from. i was worried how it would go however it went very smoothly. use a small fountain pump or a return pump first to syphon and then add. im a total newbie, please take advise from someone in the hobby for a long time. happy reefing.

I use buckets, and just plop an old pump into em and pump the water in and out for water changes.

How big is your tank ? I’ve tried all sorts of methods with various size systems. Now I’ve got a little tank (and the wife has one) and I mix up a months worth and just jug in and out about 1% a day (2 litre jug). No need to heat it if you put it into a well mixed sump.

Kalk in the salt buckets, saltwater in the left hand water butt, RODI in the right hand one (that one is a bit “drippy”, lol).

$15 pump from amazon and a 10' hose.

Just drop the pump into the bucket, place the other end of the hose in your tank and turn the pump on.
to make it easy/hands free. plug the pump into a smart plug and use your voice to tell Alexa/Google to turn it ON/OFF for you.

That's how I do water changes.

My first water changes were using 5 gal mixing 2-3 buckets and lifting them to pour in
