Water disposal?

Hello! I have had my reef tank for about 5 months now. This is a dumb question but where do you guys dispose your water when you do water changes? Do you dump it in the toilet? Or your backyard? I am currently dealing with cyanobacteria and have been taking out the cyano with my turkey baster. Where should I dump the water with the cyano??

Usually it goes to the backyard (apartments) but on a few occasions down the shower drain when it’s raining hard outside.

Salt kills plants. Reef water is also considered black water by many states. Always down the drain.
