Hey guys,
New to the hobby, I have a 75 gal. cube tank with a 22 gal. sump with a kessel led on top and a flouresent over the sump. I am adding about 1 quart of water every day. Tank has been running about 3 weeks. Does this seem normal?
Thanks
Jimmy

All tanks are not the same a part of this is lights pumps and for how long u have ur lights on for my my tank my ato gos true 3gall of water i have mh runing for 12 hours. Like i say all tanks are not the same

My 120 uses around 2-2 1/2 per day. That's with 2 250watt MH and 4 bulb 48" T5.

i have to add 6gallons every 2 days on my 180 i run 3 250w mh and 2 true blue actinics i also have a 30g sump and 30g refug with 4 light ho t5 on my fuge

Normal NO. Consider yourself lucky as most others are around 1-3 gallons a day

A big factor is the cooling system, with fans the evaporation increases, with chillers it decreases, but no mater how many gallons you need, as long as its done periodically maybe with a float switch no problem. my total gallons about 150 evaporation about 3-5 gallons per day depending on temperature, I am using fans for cooling running 24/7

I loose 2.5 gal a day on my 265. I run led's and no fans to cool it, it stays cool with out them. If I had to use fans my evap would be more.

Thanks
Guess I'm gonna look into making me an ATO sys. May try making an acrylic top for my sump also see if that reduces it a little more.

Google Melev's Reef, he shows how to make a super simple ATO for really cheap. I made one for my system, no problems so far,for under $30. Just make sure to make the snail guard as well. You can make it out of an old pill bottle.
