Just got about everything working in the new tank! Next two task lighting and water flow.

I put the power heads from my old tank in which total out too about 3400gph and I know it's not enough! How much water flow would you recommend?

I shoot for 60 to 80 times turnover. So if my math in my head is correct that would be between 14,400 and 19,200GPH.

what is that turnover rate support sps?I'm new too sps but would like to start.

Yeah that will support anything. You can get away with a lower rate "50x" but I have noticed that the higher gives better polyp extension and it also helps keep detritus suspended so it can be skimmed out easier.

any advice what is the best power head to get this volume of water moving? I just have a few 1200gph korllias right now.

Depending on budget, there are plenty of options available. Koralia Magnums offer great bang for your buck, but you could also look into Tunze Turbelle Streams or Vortech MP60s if you have some more cash to toss around.

Agreed it all depends on your budget. I would add some Vortech's if it were my tank. There are some good prices out there on used one's.
