Hey all. Just got a jebao rw4 wavemaker and took out my maxijet. I'm thinking about setting up my maxijet powerhead back in the tank for more flow, but I'm not sure how much is too much. I've got a 30 gallon long tank and the rw4 puts out up to 1,000 gph. I've got a penguin 350 hob filter that adds some flow as well. My previous marineland maxijet was rated at about 500gph circulation mode and 110 gph powerhead mode.

So I'm wondering now... how much is too much?

It really depends on how your tank is configured and where the coral is placed. Keep an eye out for how the coral is reacting to the flow and adjust from there. A picture may help.

Lacing in corals right now, as I'm still establishing my tank of 8 months, but I'll get a pic here in a sec

The arrows indicate the direction of the flow. I'm playing around right now with the maxijet on the left in powerhead mode

That shouldnt be too much flow regardless of the types of corals you keep in there. As long as you arent directly blasting your corals I'm sure they will be happy with some extra turbulance.
