Question are 2x MP40’s too much flow for a JBJ 45 rimless tank?

As long as you keep them turned down. I'd personally go with a pair of MP10's instead.

I have them on the lowest setting, and it looks like there is too much flow. Is trading for MP10’s a fair trade?

You could also do a single mp40 and see how Well that works.
