Has anyone woken up to a cloudy tank? Yesterday my skimmer went nuts I cleaned it and it would still overflow. Today I woke up to a cloudy tank. Alk dropped overnight and I am leaving to today and staying elsewhere overnight. I am going to do a water change 10 gallons if my RODI can make that in like 1 hr1/2. I’m leaning towards something was was thrown into the sump by my nephew or something that was sprayed. Any help it appreciated. Btw checked magnesium and it is at 1500

Possible bacterial bloom or precipitation. Do you dose 2 part?

Yes BRS pharma. Added around 10ml this morning to raise the Ph up. Would a bacterial bloom cause Alk to drop so much overnight?

If your PH dropped it is possible that a bacterial bloom could be depleting the oxygen in the tank. Thus the drop in PH.

Any tips on how to fix it? Never had this happen.
I would let the skimmer continue to run even if it is overflowing. It will help aerate the water. Possibly up your flow to get some water movement on the surface. A UV sterilizer will help if you have one. Other than that you would need to let it run its course if indeed it is a bacterial bloom. I would also recommend testing salinity and other parameters to see if anything is out of whack.

+1 keep the skimmer running just remove the cup if it’s overflowing. Power-head breaking the surface if possible.

Water change to remove as much as possible, fresh carbon in the sump in case of contamination, and time...

The pH drop might have caused the cloudiness

As stuff may have reacted and come out in precipitate

Did 10 gallon wc will do another 10 gallons when I get home tomorrow. Also added another bag of carbon and kept slimmer running. A pic from this morning

Attach a water bottle to a pump with some tape cut off the bottom of water bottle and buy 100% polyester stuffing from Walmart and stuff it in the bottle it will clear it up in a few hours

Do water change and add some carbon to the system. Should clear up fairly quick
