So I’ve lowered the water in my skimmer part of my sump, and tried to check out the float for top off, but the only way this top off works is if the water in my return box is quite low and it worries me. Can anybody let me know if this is normal how that the water has to be this low for my float to be working ? Or something is wrong ? Thank you. Sorry if I sound stupid, I’ve only being doing this for a year and only recently got into sumps and skimmers and still breaks my mind a little with the overthinking. The photos show the current water levels. Debating if I should just get a lift for my skimmer, but then my float for my auto top off will be too low and not work…and yes my one week old radion XR15 blue gave out lol

imo you only need the return pump inlet covered by a couple of inches so it doesnt draw in air. this way the chamber wont keep any dead water and the water all should turn over readily. when my return pump is running I have like 1 1/2 - 2" of water above the pump. If the pump is running and not drawing air, the ato working correctly all should be fine
