Water level in display tank rising

Hi all,

I have had a RedSea 300 with a TMC return pump running without issue for around 2 months now. Today I came home to see the water level near the surface and the water was flowing down the emergency intake. Any ideas why this might be happening? I turned the return pump down and this seems to have lowered the level to normal but strange that it has risen without being touched and worried what would have happened if I wasn't there!

Is your ware (sp) clogged with algae. Mine does that and requires algae removal.

Yeah it's probably the weir (strainer). Happens to mine too. Sometimes it's bubble algae actively growing in there.

That being said, I've also seen a snail get into the drain pipe and slow it down before. That's probably less-likely unless you've seen snails in your overflow box before.
