Water level in sump not staying steady

I'm fairly certain there is definite build up under the fuge but getting it out is a pain in the tail.
yep. its a nightmare. I got one of the tunze clean up kits on BRS and the long brush is the perfect length for the job

What is the braided one circled?

That's the out for the UV. It's running into the skimmer section now.

And yes I know it's a mess lol. When we move this year I'm going to take that chance to break it all down and re do all the stuff underneath the tank.

Is there a pump in the skimmer chamber powering a UV that pumps water from the skimmer chamber to the return chamber?

since you moved the line to the skimmer section are you still having this issue?

I have never understood the design choice of that sump. Personally I would have had it in series like this

inlet/filter socks > skimmer > refugium > return

That way the skimmer chamber water level will always be constant
