Water level in sump?

Wait, why would I add saltwater, wouldn’t that raise the salinity?
It would not because your system has the correct salinity. You would just be adding more volume.

The correct thing to do is replace your filter sock. Just pointing out in this case, you should not add freshwater. Need to increase flow of saltwater from the 1->3 chamber in your sump. Increasing the flow on your return might help mitigate this in the future. I replace my filter socks atleast 1-2x per week.

Oh, congrats
Do you have siphon break?
Did you simulate a power outage to determine sump max fill line?
Yeah took the filter sock out, and nothing changed. I ended up addin g more water but after like 5 hours it lost another cm around. Hello s it maybe the pump fluctuating, or is it actually evaporating that fast. I also have a glass lid on the tank, would it evaporate that much?

For topping off from evaporation loss, you want to use fresh water. Tap water often has impurities. My tap water has moderate levels of nitrates and high levels of phosphates as well as various metallic elements. Obviously adding that stuff will make everything go sideways quickly.

I top off my sump with 0 TDS RODI water. You can buy it at the LFS or you can get an RODI system and make your own from tap water. Also you can use RODI water plus salt mix to make your own salt water.

You can do pretty well just topping off your sump by hand. But you can add an auto top off system that will do it automatically. For an inexpensive system, you can go to autotopoff.com. But there are more reliable and expensive systems out there.

Yeah I was looking into the ato systems today, I already have an RO system, but will it evaporate this much.

I removed the filter sock, and nothing changed.

Dii I you reuse the filter socks, or should I buy a lot. I have 16.

I will leave it for a couple days, to see if the water level stabilized in the 3rd chamber.
Do you have a photo of the entire sump? I see the two images from your original post, but it's hard to see what's happening.

No. Just the sump. Last chamber only. Would it evaporate that fast

It's possible. I lose a gallon a day on my 130 gallon setup. I have an ato though so I'm not sure how much it would drop level wise over a given time period. I just know how much my reservoir holds and how often I have to fill it.

Do you think it’s evaporation, should I add water
